The Rats of Richstone
Sharrow… A place where the streets never seem to be clean and the sun never seems to shine on them. Richstone River separated the slums, where the “river rats” lived impoverished, from the privileged, the “riches”.
One such of those privileged is the female protagonist of the story, Phoebe Ridley, whose mother was the principal of Richstone Academy, a small, private school. She wishes nothing more than to turn in her silver spoon for a wooden fork, to pretend to be normal for a change, and to leave Richstone permanently.
With privilege comes wanting to one up each other in their society. In order to do so to their closest family friends, the Barratt’s, her mother made four scholarship places at her school for sixth form places from Sharrow. In the end five were opened.
Liam, 18 years old, poor and low grade drug dealer is one such resident and in sixth form at the local school. Friends with Brett, Daniel, and Marlon since nursery school. He wanted what across the river, the bridge, had, money and options.
Through manipulation and blackmail, him and his friends score the four winning tickets while Phoebe and her friends, Renee, Flora, and Lucie create separate manipulative bets towards the four.
There was a lot of manipulating lies between everybody, to include Liam and Phoebe’s mum, plus the dark secret Phoebe has.
As these start to come by to light, all their futures start to unravel in heart wrenching moments…. We started with a Bad Bad Boy heading towards the making of a Bad Bad Girl cliffhanger.
