The Heart’s Appeal setting is 1870’s England and is book two in the series London Beginnings by Jennifer Delamere, however it can be read as a stand-alone due to only have a few characters carried over from the first book with enough back-story information to ensure nothing was lost. The story-line follows Julia Bernay who has been trained as a nurse and wants to purse her education further to become a doctor which is why she came to London to study. On the brink of desperation though due to financial hardships back in The States, she must hurry or have the grasps of her dream be ripped away. Unbeknownst to her is the man she ends up saving the life of, may be the one to rip it away from her. Michael Stephenson seems ruthless in regaining his path to wealth and standing in London as a barrister.

Both Julia and Michael will see their plans through no matter what! But, will it be at the sake of the other?

Excellent writing, smoothly flowing plot, and kept me interested throughout. The author, Jennifer Delamere, knows her way around the Victorian Era and is able to fluidly wrap spiritual themes that are valid to this day throughout. Thrilled to have received a copy of this book from the Bethany House Bloggers Program.
