Himalayan Salt Crystal Lamp

Whether you lean towards homeopathy beliefs or not I truly love this lamp and wanted to break down the information you need to know before shopping for one yourself.

Let’s start with what I like to call

Signs That Your Himalayan Salt Lamp Is Fake“:

(1) Your Himalayan Salt Lamp Is Very Bright

Himalayan salt crystals typically range in color from medium pink to dark orange.  The salt is full of different minerals so, light emanating from the lamp will be muted and uneven.  They should only emit a soft warm glow; if it lights up a room ~ that’s a fairly good sign your Himalayan Salt Lamp is fake.

(2) Your Lamp Has White Crystals AND It Was Not Expensive

Okay, white Himalayan salt DOES exist but, it is rare and highly sought after.  If your lamp has white salt crystals and it still cost the same as other pink salt lamps ~ that’s a fairly good sign your Himalayan Salt Lamp is fake.

(3) Your Lamp Handles Moisture Extremely Well

The theory behind Himalayan Salt Lamps is that they cleanse the air around you by absorbing moisture and then evaporate pure water back out into the surrounding environment AKA hygroscopy AKA your lamp will sweat.  If your days are humid and your lamp is dry ~ that’s a fairly good sign your Himalayan Salt Lamp is fake.

(4) Your Himalayan Salt Lamp Is Durable

Genuine Himalayan Salt Lamps are fragile.  So much so that it is not uncommon that they show up damaged during shipment.  Chips and dings are normal; if you have banged up your lamp and it has held up exceptionally well ~ that’s a fairly good sign your Himalayan Salt Lamp is fake.

(5) Poor Return Policy From Manufacturer Or Supplier

As stated before, it is well-known that salt lamps are fragile.  Genuine Himalayan Salt Lamp vendors usually offer flexible and convenient return policies.  If the merchant isn’t flexible and understanding of this know fact ~ that’s a fairly good sign your Himalayan Salt Lamp is fake.

(6) Country of Origin Isn’t Pakistan

Real Pink Himalayan Salt is obtained from deep underground in the mines of Khewra, Pakistan located on the western edge of the Himalayan Mountains.  It is the only place where true Pink Himalayan Salt is found.  Recommend inquiring first and remember that some may list country of origin as where the lamp was assembled.  If the Pink Himalayan Salt was not mined from Khewra ~ that’s an automatic sign that your Himalayan Salt Lamp is fake.

Himalayan Glow Salt Crystal Lamp

Sold by WBM LLC

Product of Pakistan; mined and chipped by hand in the Himalayan Mountains.

I chose the 6-7″ size lamp, weight is approximately 5-6 lbs.

What I truly love about this technique is that each crystal is unique.  A salt lamp has been scientifically proven to act like an air purifier.  When lit, it emits negative ions that fight against positively charged particles that cause us to feel stuffy and sluggish.

Warning & Notes:

Keep away from water; do not mist your rock, for household use only, breakable ~ handle with care, keep away from direct sunlight, always keep on a placemat or coaster and keep out of reach of children and pets.

Mine came packaged well with no breaks and only a few chips.  The big part though was the fact that it was dripping moisture because it had nowhere to escape during shipment due to the packaging.  There were desiccant packs within but, they were soaked through and half stuck to the rock too.  The rock salt is placed on a neem-wood base which is on top of the metal plate which houses the 15-watt bulb (included and everything was pre-assembled).  Light emits a calming amber color.
