I have had my king-sized bed for four years come February and I have had the same queen-sized comforter for roughly 13 years (maybe more).  My queen-sized comforter has been through a lot to include three kids’ puke, cat puke, other bodily waste issues and hundreds of washing and drying cycles.  It was time for me to get a new one especially with winter coming.

The king-sized down alternative comforter came as a set with the comforter and two pillow shams for king-sized pillows also.  Material for both is 100% microfiber polyester and the comforter filling is also 100% polyester.  Very soft in my opinion and so cozy!  Colors are burgundy and black for the comforter but the pillow face is burgundy and the back, where the zipper is located, is black so, the shams are not reversible; just a FYI ~ no issues with it here which I will explain in a bit.

The size is spot-on for a king-sized and my bed looks fantastic with it on!  My favorite color is red in any shade so, burgundy matches my bedroom perfectly; my curtains, side baskets, my already owned pillowcases and my cat’s blanket are burgundy.

Stitching on all items is nicely done with no lose threads anywhere.  Plushness is perfect for winter here in Southern California; if you are in a colder area I do recommend a second winter blanket if you don’t have central heating.  On that note though the comforter will be too thick for the summers here when my bedroom stays a balmy (sarcasm) 100+°F at night; no comforters wanted then!

Very happy with the comforter; as for the pillow shams the zipper is on the back as I have mentioned.  No snags have occurred when testing them out however, that is all I can do as I do not have any king-sized pillows.  I really like the design and style of them though and I may be able to shove my body pillow in one which I still need to try; it’s on my to-do list along with thousands of other things.

Disclosure:  I received this reversible black & burgundy comforter set from Home Sweet Collection discounted however; this in no way influenced my review but, I chose to write this review and was under no obligation to do so. I only write honest reviews regardless of whether I purchased a product at full price, at a discount, or received it free.  This post may contain affiliate links and, if clicked, I may receive compensation.

They also sell these comforter sets for size twin and full/queen beds in charcoal/silver, chocolate/cream, lavender/mushroom, navy/regatta, patriot blue/stone, sage/cream, black/gray, eucalyptus/stone and pure white.

Which color duo would you choose?

  1. Not sure if my previous comment posted. I briefly lost my internet connection 🙁

But I do love the versatility of a reversible comforter. It’s nice being able to change up the colors every once in a while at no additional cost.

    1. Love things that are versatile and with these being at an affordable price-range considering other comforter sets I have price-checked, this was a win-win 🙂

  2. We have a California king so it’s almost impossible to find inexpensive sets anywhere they have some nice king sets. I love their selection for twin beds!

    1. I was tossed between a CA King and King but, opted for King due to the sizing and cost issue too. All my kids’ mattresses are twins 🙂 My boys have a blue and green reversible comforters; one loves green and the other loves blue! Win-Win & score one for mom! LOL

  3. I like the reversible comforters. They are so nice, and can really change the whole look of the bedroom. I love your choice. Sweet Home Collection Mermaid Sherpa Reversible Ultra Soft Poly Faux Lamb’s Wool Throw Blanket is lovely.
